Foreigners who serve as professionals or experts on a short-term basis in Malaysia must apply for Professional Visit Pass. The scopes for this pass are as follow:

  • Invited / Visiting Lecturers
  • Invited / Visiting Professors
  • External Examiners
  • Fellow / Fellow Assistant
  • Research Assistants
  • Speaker for Seminar / Course / Training / Symposium / Conference
  • Presenter for Academic Paper
  • Consultant
  • Technical Advisors
  • Horse’s Trainer
  • Jockeys
  • Volunteer
  • Internship Program / Short Term Study
  • Experts in Tools and Machineries Assembly
  • Experts in Tools and Machineries Maintenance
  • Experts in Tools and Machineries Repairing
  • Experts in Assembly of New Product on available Tools and Machines
  • Experts that are considered suitable by Immigration General Director of Malaysia

All the application for VDR has to be made by the sponsor / company / Institution in Malaysia (to the Immigration Department of Malaysia). And, the person may apply for VDR stamping at Malaysian embassy / mission abroad and enter the country after the approval of that pass.
